What is a Traineeship? 
A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. This Pre-Apprentice Traineeship Programme helps potential applicants for apprenticeship and employment develop their job skills so that they will be prepared to find work as an apprentice or move into full-time work. A Traineeship can last anything from six weeks up to a maximum of six months, with the content personalised to your individual needs and can include:

  • Employment preparation
  • Maths and English for those who need it
  • Work Experience
  • Vocational readiness programmes in areas such as Business, Accountancy, Computing, Construction, Hospitality and Catering, Hair and Beauty and more.


Who is a Traineeship for?

  • School leavers wishing to study and work
  • Unemployed young people and adults

How can I access the Pre-apprentice Traineeship Programme?
You can apply directly to East Berkshire College. Alternately your school, employer or another organisation may direct you to the College You can start at any time throughout the year. There is no cost to participate in this pre-apprenticeship programme
