Windsor College celebrates A Level success as students embark on exciting careers

East Berkshire College students and staff are celebrating another year of superb A Level results, as final grades were revealed today (18th August 2016) after weeks of nervous anticipation.

Continuing to set high standards, the College celebrated 100% pass rate in 21 subjects including English subjects, law, fine art, Spanish, history, geography, photography, film studies and economics.

Windsor College was packed with nervous students waiting to open those all-important envelopes. Anxiety soon turned to smiles as they found out their marks.

One of the most outstanding students was Yussef Soudan (aged 20), who achieved four As in maths, physics, chemistry and further maths.

“I was so shocked when I opened the envelope and saw that I had all As. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Windsor College, the teachers have been extremely supportive. The results mean that I can now go on to study theoretical physics at Edinburgh University.”

Sisters Yasmeen and Savannah Adisi-Musgrove (from Windsor) were also elated with their results. Having achieved A in sociology, B in geography and B in history, Yasmeen has secured her place at Birmingham University to study archaeology and anthropology. Meanwhile, Savannah is off to Loughborough University to study English after receiving an A in English literature, an A in English language and C in psychology.

Yasmeen said: “We are delighted with our results. It has been great to study at college together as we have been able to support and motivate each other. We are both very different, I’m more of an outdoors person and Savannah is more of a bookworm, but the freedom and opportunities we have had at college have suited us both. I’ve met so many different people at college and the lecturers have been amazing, it has been such a positive experience.”

Savannah added: “I’m really excited to be going on to university. We are going to different universities, but they aren’t far apart, so we’ll be able to visit each other all the time.”

Sadaf Khan (19, from Slough) was also celebrating achieving an A in chemistry, A in biology and B in English: “I am thrilled with my results, especially biology as that was my favourite subject. I’m now looking forward to studying optometry at City University in London.”

Having achieved their grades, many of the College leavers will now be going on to a range of top universities, including Edinburgh, Reading, Bath and Brunel as well as exciting employment opportunities.

Kate Webb, Principal of East Berkshire College, said: “Our students have done themselves proud. It is great to see so many young people fulfilling their potential. It is a huge credit not only to the students, but also their teachers. We wish all our students the very best of luck in their chosen university courses or career paths.”

Over the years, East Berkshire College has continued to go from strength to strength in terms of raising standards. With outstanding A Level results for the past three years, the College has earned itself a reputation for excellence. In February 2013, Ofsted rated the College as ‘good’ with outstanding features following a week-long inspection. Alongside other key strengths, the report recognised the real difference the College makes to the lives of its students in terms of their progress, success and employability.

The College offers a range of over 20 subjects at A Level including maths, media, psychology, politics, English literature, history, photography and all sciences. There are also combined pathways available, which allow students to combine an A Level with a vocational course such as a BTEC in engineering or science.
