The New Year can often be a tight time for finances. Trying to pay off your Christmas credit card bill and other expenses, often means that there is very little cash to spend on ourselves.

Getting a haircut or going out for a meal can seem expensive at this time of year, but one of the best kept secrets is that at East Berkshire College in Langley, you can treat yourself to a hair or beauty treatment at The Salon or meal out at the Zest restaurant, for a fraction of the cost, than you would pay on the high street.

Opened in summer 2014, The Salon works in partnership with the award-winning hairdressing chain, The Francesco Group, enabling Hair and Beauty students to receive training on the very latest industry techniques in a real state-of-the-art environment.

Beauty treatments start from £2.00, and include waxing, facials, massage, manicures and pedicures and microdermabrasion. Hairdressing treatments start from £3.00, including cutting and styling, Wella conditioning treatments, and colour services.

The Salon offers professional quality services in smart, modern salons and treatment rooms using salon-quality products by Wella, OPI and Dermalogica.

All treatments are carried out by students, who are supervised by qualified staff to ensure that you receive a high standard of service. Your visit to The Salon or the Zest restaurant will also give the students some real, hands-on experience and help them to take their first steps into their chosen career.

At the Zest Restaurant, you can enjoy high quality food at lunchtime or in the evening, at a low cost. For instance, you can enjoy a two or three course lunch for under £10 per person. Zest also serves a discerning array of quality wine, beers and soft drinks.

If you are feeling more adventurous, you can book a table at a special theme night and try different foods from around the world, including France, Spain and the Caribbean. Or on a Thursday evening you can enjoy a fine dining experience and choose a variety of high quality dishes from the à la carte menu, which includes a complimentary Amuse Bouche and Petit Fours.

The stunning Zest restaurant is an ideal location for a family evening out, celebrating a special occasion or a romantic meal, whilst providing a real work environment for the college's Hospitality and Catering students. All of the high quality dishes are cooked and served by the talented students, under supervision by industry-trained staff.

The Heathrow Windsor Marriott Hotel recently held their staff Christmas meal at Zest. "We had a lovely three course Christmas dinner in Zest Restaurant at Langley College. There was a great festive atmosphere and the staff were attentive and eager to please," said Nikki Bagnall, Human Resources Manager at Heathrow Windsor Marriott Hotel.

"The food was delicious. This is a brilliant opportunity for students to experience how a restaurant is run and we would recommend anyone to go along to support this fantastic initiative."

Zest and The Salon each have their own entrances for the public, and are open during term time only.
