The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has confirmed the quality and standards of provision at East Berkshire College following its review in May 2015.

A team of QAA reviewers visited East Berkshire College and judged that its academic standards, the quality and enhancement of its student learning opportunities, and the quality of information about its learning opportunities all meet UK expectations.

The review identifies a number of examples of good practice. These include:

·         the high levels of support from staff, which enable students to develop their academic, personal and professional potential

·         the wide-ranging resources and activities, which enhance students' employability skills and professional development.

The review also highlights the innovative use of new technologies, which ensures that a wide range of information is readily accessible for prospective and current students.

Kate Webb, Principal of East Berkshire College, which has campuses in Langley and Windsor, said: 'We are delighted to have achieved the QAA standard of quality for our higher education provision. As a College, we are very much focused on helping students develop employability skills and preparing them for the future, so expanding our higher education provision has been key.

'Employers are increasingly seeking higher level skills, and over the last three years we have seen a 38 per cent rise in students taking higher qualifications such as foundation degrees and HNDs. Dedicated to providing students with the highest quality education, we have established strong links with employers and invested heavily in our facilities to provide a centre of excellence for higher level skills in the area. This latest QAA review is testimony to our achievements.'

QAA's Higher Education Reviews are carried out by experts from other universities and colleges. Every review team includes a student reviewer, because QAA believes that students should be partners in the quality assurance of their education.

The team that reviewed East Berkshire College included Kevin Burnside (University of the West of England, Bristol); Marian Stewart (independent reviewer); and Craig Best (student reviewer from Brunel University).

A successful review means that the College can display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating to UK and international students that the College meets national requirements for standards and quality.
