University and clearing
If you have applied for university, but you didn’t get the results you were expecting, don’t panic. Your first choice or insurance choice university may still accept you or they may offer you an alternative course. If you have no offers, there are still many options available. You can talk to an adviser at your college, school or careers office and you can search the UCAS clearing service to see which courses have places remaining at a range of universities. You can then contact the ones you are interested in to see if they’d accept you. Alternatively, you could look at other options such as an apprenticeship or a degree-level course at college.

University isn’t your only option
University isn’t the only way to gain a higher level qualification and achieve your career ambitions. You can also study for a degree-level qualification at your local college or apply for a Higher Apprenticeship with a local company, so you can earn while you learn. At East Berkshire College, we offer a range of HNCs, HNDs, foundation degrees and higher apprenticeships in various subjects. With the cost of university education on the rise, studying for a Higher Education qualification at college can be a more convenient and affordable alternative.

A Levels and vocational courses
If you wish to retake your A Levels, have decided to follow a more vocational route or would like to pursue a different career path, the College has over 800 full-time and part-time courses including apprenticeships. From science to accountancy and from engineering to catering, we provide a wide range of courses at various levels. In addition to our vocational courses, we have over 20 subjects you can study at A Level. Again, our student advisers can provide you with advice on what course(s) will best suit your needs.
