What's covered?

Biology is the fastest developing science at the present time with numerous applications including entry into Health Service careers.

What do you need?

You will need five GCSEs at grade C or above including maths. In addition, entry to this subject requires a grade B in either GCSE Double Science or GCSE Biology and a grade B in GCSE Maths.

How you are assessed

The course will be delivered through lectures, practicals and class discussions. There is also directed private study. The course follows the OCR Specification. There are two terminal examinations, each covering all topics studied.

How Long?

AS one year/A Level further year

What course next?

Students may progress to A Level Biology and take the full A level or they may use the subject along with others to seek employment or enter higher education. To progress to the second year, at least a grade D will have to be achieved at AS level.

What could this lead to?

Most students will progress onto the A2 Biology programme.
