What's covered?

If you're driven by a love of cars, vans or trucks and looking to change career, then our 12 week fast-track course in Motor Vehicle could be just what you've been looking for. The aim of this valuable course is to develop your basic skills and knowledge to allow you to progress into a career in the Motor Industry.

We will teach you all you need to know and help achieve an industry-recognised qualification and pursue a career in this exciting and vibrant industry.

As well as the basic modules covered in level one, this course also covers the diagnosis of non-complex system faults and the studying of both the theory and practical aspects of the following:

  • Carrying out Routine Vehicle Maintenance
  • Removing and Replacing: Engine units and components
  • Electrical auxiliary units and components
  • Chassis units and components

All our lecturers are qualified professionals with real industry experience. You will learn in our modern workshops and realistic work environments, which feature the latest industry equipment and resources

What do you need?

There are no formal entry qualifications although you will be required to take a College assessment. You will also require enthusiasm, motivation and a proven commitment to hard work, good time keeping and a desire to learn.

How you are assessed

Your knowledge is assessed by practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, internal on-line multiple-choice testing and by assessments set by the College.

The course is five days a week for twelve weeks

You can progress onto a Level 3 Diploma in Motor Vehicle maintenance and repair course

What could this lead to?

Our Motor Vehicle Level 2 Diploma is accredited by ABC award and is recognised within the industry, so you can enter straight into employment as a Motor Vehicle Technician, become an apprentice or progress on to the Level 3 Diploma to further increase your earning potential.

There are 35 million registered motor vehicles in the UK, so there are plenty of career opportunities across the country, from local garages to national dealerships. On average, a qualified mechanic in the UK can earn around £30,394 per year (Source: Totaljobs.com 2017).
