What's covered?

If you know somebody who has recently moved to the UK or needs help with their written and spoken English language skills, this is the course for them. The course offers a mix of classroom activities, visits to places of interest and personal skills development.

On this course learners are able to improve their weaker language areas through a curriculum that addresses and builds up skills in order to help learners progress onto an Entry 1 level course. Contextualised learning, builds concepts including basic Citizenship elements with a Skills for Life theme. Learners consolidate language skills of reading , writing , speaking and listening with numbers, time, symbols and signs. Learners practise everyday conversation based on real life situations through a range of activities such as discussions, pair, group work and role-play.

What do you need?

Come to one of our assessment sessions so we can find out which class will be the best one for you to take.

How you are assessed

Individual , pair and group work. End of unit tests with a final exam in June that tests all skills including speaking and listening.

How Long?

Usually year long: 35 weeks. It can also be taken as a one semester course. Classes are held during the daytime and in the evenings.

What course next?

Esol Entry 1 Stage 1. This leads to a qualification in Listening and Speaking at Entry 1.
