What's covered?

This ESOL Course is for Beginners. Learners are taught to recognise and sound the English alphabet. Concepts are gradually built upon so that learners can read high frequency sight words and basic unfamiliar words through the use of phonics. Learners practise letter formation and handwriting moving onto very basic sentence construction. This course also has a strong focus on basic communication skills.

What do you need?

Come to one of our assessment sessions so we can find out which class will be the best one for you to take.

How you are assessed

Learners are monitored by tutors who assess through individual, pair and group activities. There is formative assessment, testing basic skills and concepts taught and a summative end of year test which also comprises a Speaking and Listening element.

How Long?

Either one academic year: from September to June, 35 weeks, or one semester normally of 17 weeks, starting in September or February.
