Hospitality & Catering

Hospitality & Catering

Fast-moving, energetic and rewarding, the hospitality and catering sector offers a world of work opportunities in every town and city across the UK – and even abroad.

From Michelin-starred restaurants to international hotel chains, gastropubs to contract caterers, cafes to conference centres, hospitality and catering is one of the biggest employers in the region, and with a vast array of career opportunities, you’ll never be short of options. So, if you have a passion for good food and service, if you enjoy being part of a team and working with the public, often in a lively setting, then hospitality and catering could be for you.

Alternatively, if you are looking to learn a new skill or take up a hobby, we have a diverse range of short courses, which include wine tasting, Asian cookery and cupcake making.

Why study hospitality and catering with us?
Our brand new, state-of-the-art hospitality and catering academy features professional training kitchens with the very latest industry-standard equipment, so you’ll be learning on the same type of facilities used in the workplace. We even have a working restaurant and conference suite, enabling you to gain valuable experience in a real work environment with real customers. Here, you’ll learn how to work under pressure as part of a team to run a busy commercial business, while developing your skills in the kitchen and front of house.

You’ll be guided through your course by highly experienced tutors; dedicated, skilled professionals who are passionate about passing on their knowledge and skills. Through their industry links, you will also benefit from inspiring talks, workshops and masterclasses from guest speakers. Our patrons include award-winning chef, Tom Kerridge, owner of the two Michelin star Hand & Flowers in Marlow, and Caroline Fry, Chief Executive of leading contract catering company CH&Co.

The perks of being located so close to London and Heathrow airport puts you on the doorstep of some of the industry’s top employers. So when it comes to work experience, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Where could it take you?

Our full-time courses and apprenticeships are designed to help you move directly into an exciting, rewarding career in the hotel, catering and hospitality industries, or to go on to study at a higher or more specialised level.

Depending on the course you take, you could become a sous chef, chef de partie, team leader, conference manager, kitchen assistant, head waiter, head receptionist, front office manager, catering supervisor, housekeeper, or duty manager.

Or, if you’d like to work towards a further qualification or ongoing training, you could progress to a more senior role, such as head chef, a food and beverage manager, a general manager or perhaps start your own business.
