Higher Education

Higher Education

Getting a university-level qualification, like a degree or NVQ level 4, is often a gateway to better career opportunities, higher earnings – and more confidence.

But universities can be expensive, anonymous and inconvenient. That’s why so many people choose to study for a Higher Education qualification with us. We offer a range of degree-level courses, from foundation degrees to higher apprenticeships, in everything from IT to performing arts.

Whether you’re straight out of sixth form or college, or returning to education after a long break, we have a Higher Education course to suit you. And best of all, we’re right on your doorstep.

If you don’t have the relevant formal qualifications to start Higher Education or are returning to study after a long break, we also offer Access to Higher Education courses. These are designed to update your skills and prepare you for study at a higher level in just one year. You’ll then be able to apply for an HE course at college or university.

Why study with us?
You can achieve a university-level education that's local and affordable with us. We offer a diverse choice of Higher Education courses to help boost your career and take your education to the next level. Our course fees are typically less expensive than those for similar full-time courses at a university, and thanks to our two colleges in Windsor and Langley, we’re often more conveniently located, too. So you don’t have to go far to go higher!

Our expert tutors are all experienced in their industries and committed to helping you achieve your ambitions. They’ll be on hand to guide you through your course in our professional facilities. What is more, we have strong links with employers and develop our qualifications to meet their needs, ensuring you acquire both the academic skills and practical experience needed in the workplace.

Indeed, we have an excellent record of success in helping people of all ages achieve their personal and professional goals. For example, our overall pass rate for Higher Education courses in 2013-14 was an outstanding 94%. Our courses are also validated by our partner organisations and universities, so you can rest assured that you are receiving a quality education.

Studying with us also gives you greater flexibility. You can study a foundation degree, HNC or HND on either a full-time or part-time basis, allowing you to fit study around your job or other commitments. These are stand-alone qualifications, which are well respected by employers, but most can also be topped up to a full degree with a further year of study at university. In addition, we also offer higher apprenticeships which enable you to achieve a Level 4 or 5 qualification, earn money and gain experience.

How can you fund your studies?
You can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan to cover the cost of tuition fees for Higher Education qualifications such as a Foundation Degree, HND or HNC. This loan is not based on income and there is no upper age limit. Repayments only start when you complete or leave the course and are earning over £21,000 per year. For more details, visit www.slc.co.uk/england.

A Higher Education course could be the beginning of a new educational journey, boost your career opportunities and improve your earning potential.

Whether you progress into the workplace or to a university-level course, it could give you the edge in the job market by increasing your current prospects or even opening up a new career path.
