What's covered?

This is a Level 2 QCF qualification for learners working or volunteering in roles that support pupils' learning in schools. The qualification consists of mandatory and optional units which have a credit value. To achieve the Level 2 Certificate you will need to gain 30 credits in total. The units cover a wide range of topics and are designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in the classroom. Topics include children and young people's development, schools as organisations, safeguarding children, supporting learning activities and teamwork in schools.

What do you need?

Learners are expected to be working at Level 1 for Literacy. Learners will be expected to complete an initial assessment in order to identify their literacy level. A skill scan may be required to determine the most appropriate model of study for you.

How you are assessed

There will be a range of teaching and assessment methods including practical workshops, workbooks, and direct observation of your practice in the workplace. You will need to demonstrate competency in both knowledge and skills when working with children.
