What's covered?

Electrical Engineering: This discipline will equip students to work within the fields of electrical and electronic engineering where electrical or electronic systems are in use

Manufacturing Engineering: This discipline will prepare students to work in computer aided design and/or the manufacturing environment

Course content: Year 1 core units: Analytic Methods, Engineering Science, Project Design

Year 2 core units: Analytic Methods (continued), Engineering Science, Project Design

Through the HND students will gain the skills, knowledge and experience so that on successful completion of the programme students can progress directly into employment and have the necessary transferrable skills for the engineering industries

What do you need?

Successful completion of a level 3 Certificate in Engineering or two appropriate A-levels, including maths at a minimum of a C grade. All suitable applicants will be required to have a formal interview and complete diagnostic assessments to ensure that working at the appropriate level to progress onto a level 5 qualification

How you are assessed

The course will be assessed through assignments, projects, practical exercises and examinations

Students will attend college three days a week on a full-time basis for both years

Students may progress to an appropriate degree programme after completion of the Higher National Diploma or employment
