Engineering

Engineering Technology

The UK is home to some of the biggest engineering companies in the world, plus a whole host of dynamic innovators, so as an engineer, you’ll never be short on career options.

From John Guest to Babcock, the chance to work in a practical, interesting and rewarding industry really is yours for the taking. So if you’re interested in how things work, enjoy fixing things, like problem-solving or coming up with new gadgets and inventions, one of our courses in engineering technology could be the perfect stepping stone to your dream job.

Why study engineering with us?

The College offers specialist workshops in which you’ll be introduced to all aspects of engineering including design, hydraulics, welding, product design and electronics. You’ll be trained on all the latest technology used in the workplace, including our new CNC milling and turning machines, laser cutter centre and 3D printers.

All our courses are accredited by the main industry bodies. Our workshops have been designed to be light and airy, giving you lots of space to learn your trade, while you practice your skills on the actual types of tools you’d be using in your job.

Whether you’re concentrating on precision or electronic engineering, you’ll be learning from inspirational tutors with genuine first-hand experience within the sector. And our strong links with respected industry giants like Babcock and BAA mean you’ll be developing practical knowledge and skills based on what today’s employers actually want and need.

During your course, you’ll have the chance to go out on industry visits, so you can really find out how the job is done. It also means you can speak to people actually working in the industry to get a better understanding of what your future career in engineering could be like.

Where could it take you?

Studying an accredited qualification at the College can led to a wide range of roles, from engineering operative to CNC milling fabricator, and electrical engineer to security alarm engineer. Our courses are designed to give you an excellent foundation from which to progress to careers such as Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and manufacture or machine servicing.

Whether you want to continue in education and gain additional qualifications, or move directly into the workplace and put your skills into practice, our engineering courses can get you where you want to go.
