What's covered?

This course is designed to give students the opportunity to study Film at an advanced level. The course focuses on analysing a range of film from different historical periods and countries. Students also study screen writing and get the opportunity to make a short film.

Students analyse how meaning is made through the language of mise en scene, cinematography, editing and sound. . Film Studies is a discipline that deals with textual, theoretical, historical and critical approaches to Films. Film Studies also explores our role as the spectator and the psychology behind audience response

What do you need?

Applicants need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above.

How you are assessed

Students will be assessed through exam at the end of the second year as well as coursework.

How Long?

This is a 2 year A level.

What course next?

Students can progress to full and part-time programmes in Humanities or use the qualification towards entry to an HNC or degree level programme at university

What could this lead to?

University, or a career or apprenticeship in the media industry.
