What's covered?

From editing to graphic design, the course is structured and taught by experts using the very best facilities to give an introduction to the world of multi-media. This level 2 BTEC will introduce you to a number of different media areas and develop your skills in a wide range of design and production methods. Our courses also coach you in the latest industry standard software with units based in Adobe Photoshop and Premier and other parts of the suite. This type of software will help Prepare you for the workplace from your first day with us.

Core units for this course include:

  • Photography
  • Digital Video

We root these core units in a wide range of creative industries, to give our students a dynamic outlook on media. These include:

  • Film & TV
  • Sound production
  • Animation

What do you need?

We recommend that our candidates have 4 GCSEs at grade D or above. In order to demonstrate your flair for media, we also recommend that applicants bring some creative examples of their work to an interview, such as; film reviews, photography or previous media coursework.

How you are assessed

Our Diploma courses are graded at either Pass, Merit or Distinction and you will be assessed on a continuous basis throughout the various stages of the course. You will mainly be assessed through creative projects and written coursework, which will then be reviewed against criteria from the course specification. You will also undertake two hour long exams which cover industry knowledge aspects of the course.

You will be awarded with a level 2 BTEC qualification in Media accrediting you with a strong grounding of core skills in your chosen field. A full diploma is a recognised and valued qualification throughout the industry, giving you excellent career and progression prospects.

What course next?

This course will give you the work skills that employers value in today's job market. The course also allows Progression to the level 3 Creative Media Production course when an overall grade of Merit is achieved along with meeting the colleges attendance and behaviour criteria.

What could this lead to?

Alternatively, you could use your creative multi-media and IT skills to get a job as a junior graphic designer or as a runner for a film or television production company. The practical and team-working skills you will learn on this course are also highly valued by Retail and IT based employers
