What's covered?

This course is a broad-based programme run over two years and allowing students to gain experience in a wide selection of studies. The course is equivalent to three A levels.

The course is made up of 18 units, eight core units and a further 10 specialist units. The specialist units allow you to study particular areas in depth and include graphic design, multimedia including digital photography, fine art, 3D design and fashion & textiles.

What do you need?

You will need four GCSEs at grade C or above, including an art & design subject, or a GNVQ Intermediate, or First Diploma in Art & Design. At interview you should bring a portfolio of your Art & Design work

How you are assessed

The course is taught through lectures, practical studio work and trips to galleries. The core areas of study include drawing and contextual studies. The work is continually assessed throughout the year.

What course next?

Most students progress to Higher Education, although the Extended National Diploma is valued by employers as well as universities.

What could this lead to?

A career in Interior design. Spatial design, Retail display, theatre design, visual merchandising.
