What's covered?

If you're thinking of turning your hand to woodwork then our 12 week fast-track Level 2 course will give you a good grounding and introduce you to a wide range of carpentry and joinery skills, as well as increase your site skills in carpentry. It is a great choice if you are looking to change career or wish to improve your prospects and earning potential. We'll teach you everything you need to know and help you to achieve an industry-recognised qualification, preparing you for a rewarding career in this interesting and diverse sector. All our lecturers are qualified professionals with real industry experience. You will learn in our modern workshops and realistic work environments, which feature the latest industry equipment and resources. The diploma requires the completion of practical and theory tasks, unit end tests followed by on-line exam and practical phase test

What do you need?

There are no formal entry qualifications although you will be required to take a College assessment. You will also require enthusiasm, motivation and a proven commitment to hard work, good time keeping and a desire to learn.

How you are assessed

You will undertake practical tasks in the workshops and theory in the classroom. You will be assessed through unit end tests followed by an on-line exam and practical phase test.

The course is five days a week for twelve weeks

Our Carpentry & Joinery Level 2 Diploma is accredited by C Skills and is recognised within the industry, so you can enter straight into employment, become self-employed, move on to an apprenticeship or progress on to the Level 3 Diploma to further increase your earning potential.

The construction industry is growing fast and offers a vast range of employment opportunities for those with the right skills. There has never been a better time to work in the construction industry as there is currently great local demand for skilled carpenters and the work varies from constructing roofs, timber-framed houses to second fix jobs such as fitting skirting boards and hanging doors.

On average, a carpenter in the UK can earn an average of £31,787 per year (Source: Totaljobs.com 2017).
