What's covered?

Higher Apprenticeships work towards work-based learning qualifications such as NVQ Level 4 and, in some cases, a knowledge-based qualification such as a Foundation degree. All Apprenticeships include the following elements: - A work-based ‘competency’ qualification such as an NVQ Diploma - A technical qualification relevant to the specific Apprenticeship - Any other qualifications or requirements as specified by the particular occupation - Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT or equivalent as appropriate - Personal Learning and Thinking Skills - Employee Rights and Responsibilities - On-the-job and off-the-job training The competency qualification in this apprenticeship is the Diploma in professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals (level 4) The Knowledge qualifications available are; Foundation Degree in Computing, IT or Telecommunications. Higher National Certificate in Computing and Systems Development (level 4). Higher National Diploma in Computing and Systems Development (level 5). Diploma Mandatory Units: Health and Safety in ICT (3 credits) Develop own effectiveness and professionalism (12 credits) Optional Units: A further 65 optional units which can be chosen to meet the needs of the employer and learner.

What do you need?

Employer: An employer would be expected to train and support the learner and give them as much experience as necessary in the organisation to be competent in all of the mandatory and chosen optional units. Apprentice: For entry to the higher apprenticeship you will need to have completed either A Levels, or an equivalent qualification for example the Level 3 IT Diploma, an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3). You will need to be working in a relevant role within the technology/telecommunications industry and demonstrate exposure to a range of experience in your working environment to complete the qualification. The Relevant job roles for this Apprenticeship include: - IT Project Manager - Analyst Developer - IT Service Manager - IT Security Analyst - Network / Telecoms Manager

How you are assessed

You will be assessed within the college as well in the workplace to ensure all the competencies are met. Regular review meetings will take place with both your assessor and employer to support you in achieving the qualification.

Further professional qualifications and advancement. Following successful completion of the framework successful apprentices will be able to continue to complete a full Honours degree programme Other industry recognised, role-specific qualifications: Project Management training and accreditation (PRINCE2, MSP, PMI, APM and Agile) Service Management training and accreditation (ITIL, SDI and ISO/IEC 2000 training) Management and Personal Development Training A wide range of vendor and core technology training – leading to industry recognised qualifications. Some qualifications entitle membership of a professional organisation, offering networking and career advancement opportunities.
