A Levels & GCSEs

A Levels & GCSEs

A Levels and GCSEs are well respected by employers, colleges and universities as they show that you are bright enough to work at a higher level, you can work hard to achieve a goal and you can manage your time efficiently.

Maybe you have a job or higher level course in mind that requires specific academic knowledge. Perhaps you’re not sure of your career path yet. Wherever you’re heading, A Levels and GSCEs can give you the solid foundation to get you there.

Why study with us?

East Berkshire College is a great place to study A Levels or GCSEs and prepare for your next step into university, employment or further study. We have top facilities and a wide range of subjects, and our results are consistently high.

Our A Level courses are run at our modern Windsor College. Our tutors are all specialists in their area of study, and our students value the mature and friendly environment created in the classrooms. As well as teaching independence, we will fully support you all the way through College, to ensure you get the most from your time here.

We are proud of our high standards and have invested heavily in our college to provide you with the latest technology, from media suites to science laboratories.

Your learning will also stretch beyond the classroom with interesting trips, activities, guest speakers and real life experiences. We work closely with local employers to provide all our full-time students with structured work experience programmes and an exciting enterprise programme to provide you with the chance to develop valuable employability skills and gain an insight into a real work environment.

A Levels:

We offer over 20 subjects at A Level. You can choose any combination of subjects, according to your interests and career ambitions. If you’re planning a career in medicine, technology, engineering, social sciences, business management or the creative arts, we also have four specific career pathways to help set you on your way.

If you’re not sure what subjects to choose or if you know the career you would like to pursue, our qualified advisors are able to advise you on the right combination of subjects to study and the grades you’ll need to achieve your goal.

In some areas, you can even combine an A Level subject with a vocational course at Level 3 to provide you with a strong mix of academic knowledge and practical skills. For example, you could combine A Level maths with an engineering course. Alternatively, you could choose to compliment your A Level courses by learning a second or even third language.

GCSEs:

We also offer a range of one year intensive GCSE pathways, which are designed to help you re-take and improve your GCSE results in order to move on to study A Levels or a Level 3 vocational course. You can choose a specific pathway or a combination of subjects to suit your needs.

What do you need to study A Levels?

To study A Levels you will usually need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, achieved in the same academic year. Some subjects may require a minimum of a B pass at GCSE. You will then be able to choose a combination of three or four subjects to study at A Level.
