Brewing up for charity
There were cakes galore at East Berkshire College last week, when over 40 students on the Personal Options course took part in Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning. The students raised over £280 for the charity by selling a variety of cakes, hot drinks and raffle tickets to fellow students and staff at the College's Langley and Windsor campuses.
Many of the deliciously indulgent cakes were baked and decorated by the students themselves and others, such as a heavenly carrot cake, were kindly donated by the Handmade Cake Company.
Lecturer Louise Carrington-Dye explains: "Both our coffee mornings were a great success. All the students that took part are currently on the College's Personal Options programme, which is an entry-level course for people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. As well as raising money for a worthy cause, the events also helped the students to develop their literacy, numeracy and teamwork skills."
