Most students come to college to gain the qualifications and skills they need to enter employment or study at a higher level. In today’s market, along with the skills and qualifications you’re working towards, it’s also worth investigating other ways of getting ahead and gaining the edge with employers and admissions tutors in your college interview.
Work experience is a great way of doing this. Not only does it show admissions tutors and employers that you have taken the time to gain experience in your chosen career area, but it’s also an effective way of making sure you’re on the right track and that that dream job in your chosen industry is really what you think it is.
Work experience can be carried out in a number of different ways, depending on the amount of time you have and the organisations you would like to approach for experience.
Whatever you want to try, and however you want to do it, we’re here to help.
Some courses at East Berkshire College have work experience placements built in, giving you a valuable and regular opportunity to work in the relevant industry and to put your learning to the test in a real, but supported, work environment.
Students on courses without compulsory placements can also access work experience with support from college staff.
